1. Who I am

I am Raj, the author of Thought Wave, a personal blog at thoughtwave.life. I live in Bishan, Singapore. This notice explains how I handle personal data when you visit the site or write to me. I am not a company and I do not operate as a data broker or marketing platform.

2. Scope

This notice applies to thoughtwave.life only. It covers visitors who read the notes, people who email me, and anyone who uses the cookie controls on this site. It does not cover third-party websites linked from here, and it does not cover social platforms where I do not maintain an official presence for this blog.

3. What I collect

When you browse the site, my hosting provider may record standard server logs: your IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. I do not run analytics scripts on this site and I do not use advertising trackers in the pages I control. When you email me, I receive whatever you choose to put in the message — usually your email address, your name if you provide it, and the content of your note.

4. Why I collect it

Server logs help keep the site secure and diagnose technical faults. Email is the only way you can reach me directly because there is no contact form. I use your email to read your message and, if needed, to reply once. I do not add addresses to a newsletter because there is no newsletter.

5. Cookies

This site uses a small consent cookie named sg_blog_consent and a localStorage mirror called cookie_consent_v1 so your cookie choice persists for about six months. Details of categories — essential, functional, analytics — are explained on cookies. Please read that page for how Google Maps embeds are treated on this site.

6. Maps

Every page includes a Google Maps iframe centred on the Bishan neighbourhood. Google may set its own cookies or collect usage data according to its policies. On Thought Wave, maps are treated as functional embedded content and remain visible regardless of your consent choice, as disclosed on the cookies page. The pin is approximate and does not mark my exact flat.

7. Email correspondence

If you email [email protected], your message is stored in my mail account until I delete it. I do not sell or share your address. I may keep a correction email if it helps me fix a factual error in a note, but I do not build a mailing list from correspondence.

8. Hosting

The site is hosted independently. The host processes server logs on my behalf as a data intermediary. I chose a host that allows me to serve static pages without unnecessary tracking. I do not integrate third-party comment systems or social login.

9. Retention

Server logs are rotated by the host according to its default schedule, typically a few weeks. Cookie consent choices persist for about six months unless you clear them sooner. Email is kept until I no longer need the thread, after which I delete it in the ordinary course of tidying my inbox.

10. Your rights under the PDPA

Under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act, you may ask what personal data I hold about you, request correction, or withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. Because this site collects very little directly, most requests will concern email you sent me. Write to [email protected] with your request and I will respond within a reasonable time. You may also lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Commission if you believe I have handled your data improperly.

11. Children

This site is written for a general adult audience. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If a parent or guardian believes a child has emailed me, contact me and I will delete the message.

12. Changes

If I change this notice, I will update the date at the top and keep the previous version available on request. Material changes will be noted on the cookies page as well. Continued use of the site after an update means you have read the revised notice, though for cookie categories you will always be able to reopen the consent panel from the footer link.

13. Security

I take reasonable steps to protect the site and my email account from unauthorised access. Because the pages are static, there is no visitor database to breach on the server itself. The main risk vectors are email phishing and compromised hosting credentials, which I mitigate with strong passwords and provider alerts.

14. Third-party links

If I link to an external site, that site has its own privacy practices. I do not control Google’s handling of data when you interact with an embedded map. Review Google’s privacy policy if you need detail beyond what I provide on the cookies page.

15. Do Not Call and marketing

I do not maintain a marketing mailing list and do not send promotional messages. If you email me, I will not add your address to a newsletter because none exists on this site.

16. Automated decision-making

I do not use personal data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. Server-side security tools operated by my host may automatically block suspicious traffic; those processes do not evaluate reader identity for blog access.

17. Glossary

Personal data means data about an individual who can be identified from that data or from that data and other information to which I have or am likely to have access. Processing means any operation performed on personal data, including collection, storage, and deletion. PDPA means Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 as amended. Consent means voluntary agreement given with knowledge of the purpose for which data is collected.

This is a personal blog. Everything here reflects my own experiences, opinions, memories and impressions. The notes are personal reflections, not professional, medical, legal, financial or news-reporting advice. Where a note touches a serious event nearby, I only describe what I heard or saw from my end of the street — never as reporting.
